Emirates NBD wins ‘Best Mobile Banking Experience’ at Smart Cards & Payments Awards 2016

Emirates NBD, one of the leading banking groups in the region, was awarded ‘Best Mobile Banking Experience’ for its superior mobile app, reinforcing Emirates NBD’s strides in the digitisation of banking, at the recently held Smart Cards & Payments Middle East Awards 2016.

The bank’s mobile app was recognised for its widely used services including Biometric Login  and transactions app via ‘Smart Touch’ capability, using Apple’s Touch ID and Samsung’s Fingerprint; Mobile Queuing facility which allows customers to obtain a token for their branch transactions via the app, even before arriving at the branch, thus significantly reducing waiting time at the branch; Mobile Cheque Deposit, a first of its kind facility in the region, that enables Private Banking and Priority Banking customers to deposit cheques simply by capturing an image and uploading it remotely on the app; the popular DirectRemit fund transfer platform for remittances within 60 seconds to India, Sri Lanka, the Philippines, Egypt and Pakistan;  the innovative Shake n’ Save impulse savings app; and mePay, the bank’s peer to peer money transfer service, among others.

Commenting on the win, Suvo Sarkar, Senior Executive Vice President & Group Head – Retail Banking and Wealth Management, Emirates NBD said: “We are honoured to be recognised for our superior mobile banking app, which is indeed a benchmark experience. As a bank that is committed to creating innovative and convenient products and services that match our customers’ needs and lifestyles, we aim to continue to raise the user friendliness and performance standard of our app.”

Emirates NBD’s mobile banking app is consistently ranked #1 in the Finance category in UAE App Store, with an average of 4.5 stars/5 stars in customer satisfaction and over 750,000 downloads. The app is available on all major operating systems including iOS, Android, Windows and BlackBerry, both for smart phones and tablets.

Referencing the bank’s recent announcement to invest AED 500 million over the next three years towards digital innovation and multichannel transformation of processes, products and services, Sarkar added, “We look forward to offering our customers a banking experience like no other in the UAE as we continue to add innovative banking services on the Emirates NBD mobile banking app.” Suvo also confirmed that over 87 per cent of the bank’s customers transactions now take place via digital channels.

Now in its seventeenth year, the Smart Cards & Payments Middle East Awards was recently held in the Armani Hotel Dubai. Winners were selected from a stringent evaluation process with nominations from over twelve hundred companies spanning the Middle East, North Africa and Central and South Asia.
